About Me
The toughest decision I made in life was starting a new career path, but my motivation to have a better lifestyle and to provide for my family inspired me to take the leap. Formerly employed as a Theme Support Specialist @ We Are Underground. Currently looking for more opportunities while continuing my education at SNHU.
Here is a timeline of my journey so far.
2019
My journey started in the summer. I started fixing technology at work and discovered my passion for tech. With the help and a push from my Fiance, I enrolled in College in the fall. At first it was hard for me to adjust with a family, full time job, and being a full time student. But with pure motivation and determination I soon adjusted.
2020
What I went through this year tested my dedication for programming by having to learn most of what I know of python by myself since covid hit and we were sent home for the rest of the semester. During the fall I started learning Java and JavaScript, developed a WebApp with Vue for the first time and that was my introduction to Frameworks.
2021
I learned the object oriented programming paradigm while developing a strong grasp on Java in the spring. I worked on many projects that tested my limits. Over the summer I developed my portfolio and then I decided to take a leap of faith and quit my job. I started focusing solely on college and developing a stronger set of skills. I started developing with React and working on simple games.
2022
I was given a team lead position for my work development Capstone class. We prototyped some software in Python using a MVC model that the client could use by the end of the semester. After graduation, I started working my Shopify Development journey by joining the Freemote community. They taught me how to use Liquid and helped me get started freelancing. Took a job offer soon after.
2023
This year started off strong with a brand new job with the Shopify Theme Partner, We Are Underground, and I also started my journey at Southern New Hampshire University to get a Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in Game Programming & Development. I contuined to invest my time in learning more about Shopify and Liquid. My knowledge of Shopify exploded due to this and my work environment.
2024
By this time, my college and professional career were both going strong still. After some graphic and software development classes, I made a new Unreal Engine Arena Shooter game. On the Shopify side, my knowledge kept growing and I helped many different types of merchants throughout the year from questions about the theme to working on custom features.
2025
Still in college, I started taking an Artificial Intelligence course that really opened my eyes to how amazing AI can really be. Around March, I did lose my job at We Are Underground due to huge reduction in profit at the company. Because of this sudden change, I started looking for work immediately via freelancing again along with other opportunities.
